      Environmental Champion Awards

      Shasta Environmental Alliance (SEA) is hosting its First Annual Environmental Champions Award event honoring Peggy Rebol, Douglas Craig, Larry Jordan, Julie Kierstead Nelson and Rize Oliveira for their work in protecting our natural environment. The event will take place on November 22, 6:30 pm at the First United Methodist Church, 1825 East St., Redding
      In the adult category, honorees include: Peggy Rebol for her work on the Whole Earth and Watershed Festival; Doug Craig for his work educating the public about climate change; and Larry Jordan for his work in protecting native birds. Int the governmental agency category, Julie Kierstead Nelson will be honored for her work protecting, discovering and writing about rare plants. Rize Oliveira in the high school student category will be honored for her work producing short environmental segments on KFOI radio.
      This event also will be a social mixer with finger foods and non-alcoholic drinks provided. We hope you will join us when we’ll recognize the important work of these local environmentalists. This will be in the Social Hall of the Methodist Church on the ground floor with parking available behind the church. There is no charge, but donations are appreciated..
