      Oshawa, ON: The New Art and Science of Wound Care: Fundamentals of Wound Management

      The Art and Science of Wound Care is a comprehensive, educational program designed for wound care clinicians in all the various health care delivery settings. The program purpose is to assist caregivers in gaining confidence and competence, both in administering direct wound care and in optimizing the potential for wound healing. It is a presentation of the art of caregiving as well as the science that guides its delivery.This session will consist of the following clinical modules, participant interaction and workshops:• Holistic Approach to Wound Healing• Lower leg ulcer management• Pressure Injury Prevention Speaker: Dr. Kevin Woo, PhD RN NSWOC WOCC(C) FAPWCSDr. Kevin Woo is an Associate Professor at Queen’s University, School of Nursing and School of Rehabilitation in Kingston, Canada. He teaches in the Master of Science in Healthcare Quality program, Master of Aging and Health program, as well as the Master and Bachelor of Nursing Science programs. Kevin is an adjunct research professor at the Western University teaching for their Masters of Clinical Science in Wound Health program. He is the Early Researcher Award recipient 2014-2019 from the Ministry of Research and Innovation. He is the co-editor of Chronic Wound Care 5, a clinical source book for healthcare professionals.He has served on expert panels to develop Best Practice Guidelines (BPG’s) in collaboration with the Registered Nurses Association in Ontario for the Assessment and Management of Pressure Injuries for the Interprofessional Team. Kevin maintains his clinical expertise and functions as an Advanced Wound Consultant at the West Park Health Centre, a specialized chronic care and rehabilitation hospital in Toronto. Additionally, he is the Web Editor for Advances in Skin and Wound Care journal web site and he is a member of several editorial boards including World Council of Enterostomal therapy Journal, International Wound Journal, and International Journal of Lower Extremity Wounds.
