The Evolution of Buncombe County-Old to New

What is “Old Buncombe County”? When was Buncombe County established? What counties preceded Buncombe in WNC? Was part of “Old Buncombe County” in Tennessee? Learning the answers to these questions and others will help your search for kin living in the western mountains long ago. Sandy Jordan is Coordinator of the First Families Old Buncombe program and Nancy Manning is the Society’s experienced Genealogist. They will present maps showing boundary changes over time and discuss early “Old” Buncombe County families. For information about library hours/resources, see http://www.obcgs.com/ or call 828 253-1894.
