Celtic Eucharist with Guest musician Michael Hosford

A Celtic service is a candlelight service using sacred music to provide a meditative worship experience; it is a service steeped in tradition. Visually, you can expect to see a darkened sanctuary with dozens of lighted candles and an icon or two. Prayers and liturgical forms used will be from a variety of sources including those found in the Christian communities of Iona and Northumbria, as well as our own Anglican sources. This is a wonderful opportunity to invite a friend, family member or acquaintance to join you. This service is intended to be inclusive and welcoming of all people. We pray this opportunity will add to the fullness of worship at Trinity for ourselves and for others.

This week's guest musician is Michael Hosford who studied at Oberlin Conservatory with trombonist/composer Raymond Premru and at Aspen Music Festival with composer Charles Jones, later moving to New York to complete Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in trombone performance at the Juilliard School, studying with Per Brevig (Metropolitan Opera) and Michael Powell (American Brass Quintet) respectively.

In New York, Michael spent eleven years as a freelancer, performing with such world-class ensembles as the Orchestra of St. Luke’s, the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, the Metropolitan Opera orchestra, and for the Broadway productions of The King and I, 1776, Candide, Les Miserables, The Music Man, Parade, and The Lion King.

Michael teaches trombone, euphonium, and tuba at The Academy for the Arts in Asheville.
